Palm Sunday - Hosanna! Save Us Now
Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
~Psalm 118:27 - "The Lord is God, and He has shown kindness to us." (NCV)
We give thanks to our God for another day to praise Him for His goodness and mercy and especially for His protection.
As we share in precious memories of our loving Founder/Overseer, Rev. Dr. Repsie M. Warren, our hearts are still saddened and heavy. We continue to mourn her passing, but she would remind us that our work remains in front of us. Our world and our worship has been turned upside down, but we approach this time with conviction and service, and praise to God for carrying us through.
Palm Sunday has always been a glorious celebration for us as we look forward to the beginning of Holy Week. It has been a day of Joy and Hope for us, in great anticipation of Resurrection Sunday. We all know that it will look and feel very differently! We begin this week of Easter and we are unable to come together with our church family.
Don't think that everything is out of control..."He is a very present help in the time of trouble." (Psalm 46:10). No, we can't be together...BUT, Yes, we can pray for one another and worship God in the very beauty of Holiness, right in our own homes.
Palm Sunday - that very important day when Jesus began His journey towards the Cross. It reminds us that He alone is King.. (Matthew 21:1-11) As we begin this Holy Week, may God direct our thoughts and our focus, that we can remember what matters most, Jesus Christ our King. As the crowd shouted out...."Hosanna!" ("meaning save us now"). What a cry for today..! It was a shout of welcome or joy at that time. The crowd saw Jesus as the fulfillment of their Messianic expectations. It is our cry for today, that Jesus will save us, as always!! We are rejoicing at the expectation that we know He will!!
~Zechariah 9:9 - "Rejoice greatly, Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey."
Let's not focus on the fact that we are not worshipping together in the church BUILDING...let's be reminded that WE ARE THE CHURCH..! Let's pray together, thanking God for the gift of HIS only Son, Jesus Christ and HIS sacrifice for us, as we look to Good Friday and RESURRECTION Sunday.
We remember ~2 Corinthians 9:15 .."Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!" Jesus Christ, our King.!!! May God bless you and your family. May He keep us safe and reminded of the true meaning of this Holy Week. HE is Lord, He is Lord..!
Peace and Joy,
Pastor Barbara J. Montague
